Uncle Carl Crowther's Funeral

On our way driving home from SLC on Monday,
we got a call from Grandma that her brother, Uncle Carl,
had passed away.
He was 92 and has been in relatively good health
until just recently.
He had those good Crowther genes, like Grandma.

Here's Roger to tell a little something about this special uncle:

I remember going to Uncle Carl's and Aunt Dean's (Noradean) with Mom and Dad to visit when we were just young kids and there were only Chyrrl, Gordon and myself in the family.  We always enjoyed playing with Jim, Curt and Karla while our parents visited.  I remember Uncle Carl as always being friendly with a big smile and a happy way about him.  He loved people and seemed to always enjoy our family coming to visit him and Aunt Dean.  He was mom's big brother and I could always tell how much he loved his little sister.

We drove to Grandma's Friday afternoon
and stayed overnight with her,
then Chyrrl met us the next morning to ride with us
to Salt Lake for the funeral.
Susie and Craig followed us in their car.
We laughed when we met up before we left
and all had on black and white,
so we had to take a picture!

Carl is buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery near the U.
Here Grandma is talking with Jackie Crowther, Boyd's wife.
Boyd is Grandma's half brother.  After her mother died,
her dad married Irene, and Boyd was their son.
He died several years ago.
Grandma is the last living child.

I think she is beautiful!

Carl was not active in the church, and the funeral
was definitely not a typical Mormon funeral,
but the love that each kid and grandkid who spoke
had for Uncle Carl came through loud and clear.
The family held "A Party" in Carl's honor afterwards
at the Red Butte Garden's new Rose House.

Waiting in the buffet line are Colleen, Alan's wife, Alan and Connie (Aunt Florence's kids),
Craig, Grandma, Susie and Chyrrl.
(Scott and Sherie came to the funeral, but couldn't come to the cemetery and "The Party." Shellie and Todd were out of town.)

Carl had many friends and lots of Crowthers came to the services, the cemetery and "The Party" afterwards.

We left for home about 4, and we will head back up north
on Tuesday for Brad Stratford's wedding,
then Taylor Morris's missionary homecoming in Boise.

We're keeping the road hot between St. George and points north!
