The Rest of The Story . . .

On Tuesday, July 23, Roger and I headed for Rick and Jodie's
to spend the 24th together
and also stay and tend Jack, Addie and Charlie
while Mindy attended her college friend, Jessica's, wedding
in Cody, Wyoming.
She left on the 25th and drove herself and three friends
in a rental car on the big road trip.

We all celebrated a fun 24th with a hamburger cookout
and roasted marshmallows for s'mores around their fire pit.
(Sure wish we had remembered to take pics!)

The night before, Jessica T. (not Mindy's friend!),
did my hair in her shop in Ogden -
got done after 10:30 PM!
While I was getting my hair colored, cut and styled,
Roger, Mindy and her kids visited Grandma Strats.

Here are some pics of playing with the kids in Rick's backyard
and our four-day adventure in baby-sitting!

Roger also took some cute video of the kids
jumping and doing tricks on the tramp
and of swinging and going down the slide in Rick's backyard.

Though Charlie and Addie had a stomach bug
and we old grandparents are kind of out of practice
taking care of real little ones,
we have some memorable moments of each
of their total cuteness!
It was fun showing them off at the Gabrielsen Reunion!

On Sunday, Roger and I took turns attending church
in Rick's ward.
Jodie taught the Relief Society lesson and I have to say,
she is a wonderful teacher!
She is so warm and likable,
and it was a powerful lesson!

We had such a delicious Sunday dinner -
marinated flank steak, mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini and yellow squash from their garden, watermelon,
a yummy tossed salad with lettuce from their garden,
Caprece salad, Jodie's homemade breadsticks
and lemon bars for dessert.

So, so good!

Roger dropped Mindy and kids off at the airport Monday morning, then Roger and I went shopping
and had lunch at Moochie's
a Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives find,
then drove home to St. George.
Try Moochie's meatball sandwich if you go there - deelish!

  1. You two are the best grandparents! You help all of your kids out - I know that is the best way to get to know each one of your grandkids!
    Mindy's kids are so cute!
