On Monday morning, June 4th, Roger and I drove with
Patty and Hal to Logan, after picking up gorgeous
flower arrangements at Evan's wholesale floral
operation. We met up in the Logan Cemetery with
Joan, Whitney, Missy and kids, who had come from
Boise. Well, Missy actually drove to Malad Sunday
night and stayed over with Jedd's parents. Roger and
I had stayed in Mickelsen's beautiful new home on
Sunday night in the Doll Room.
Decorating the Graves
This was also a special day because it was Patty and
Hal's anniversary!
We have so many happy memories with these
wonderful guys!
The Logan Cemetery looked so beautiful and we were
all happy that it worked out that we could meet and
honor Mom and Dad
and all of our other loved ones buried there.
Roger's camera was focused on Miss Ellie
quite a bit that day!
The original plan had been to eat at Maddox, but it
is closed on Mondays, so we ate pizza at Roger's and my
and Missy and Jedd's college hangout, Fredrico's.
The salad is exactly as they have always served it,
with a big sliced red beet on top!
No trip to Logan is complete without
an Aggie ice cream cone!
We also had a quick stop for Bluebird chocolates.
Some traditions are fully necessary,
especially such yummy ones!
We then headed to Wellsville to James and Sarah
Park's graves
(they raised Grandma Libby after her mother died).
It was a hot day in Cache Valley, and the shaded lawn
was inviting, as we talked about our
honored loved ones of the past!
In fact, it was so inviting, Hal fell sound asleep!
Ellie thought it was cool wearing her mom's sunglasses.
Girls' Tea Party at Patty's
We decorated the tables with
my mom's bone china tea sets.
Patty, Joan and I cooked like maniacs the night before
and that morning before the tea.
Kelly brought an exquisite flower arrangement.
I made this Southwest layer salad.
It has homemade cornbread between the layers and
on top.
We also made this
crunchy broccoli and cauliflower salad. . .
. . . Oriental chicken salad . . .
. . . and Joan made these delicious
banana pecan cupcakes with salted maple buttercream
and topped with raw sugar.
Allison made these yummy mint brownies . . .
. . . Whitney made these pretty sugar cookie tarts . . .
. . . and Kelly and Treygan (they are his specialty)
made these to-die-for lemon rolls.
We also made a yummy fruit salad. Jessica was
staying with Patty, too, and she helped with
EVERYTHING! She is so talented!
Whitney also made homemade herbal mint
(made from fresh mint leaves) tea. It was delicious!
Aren't these lots of cute little faces?
These are the cousins able to attend - from bottom
left, Kelly, Whitney, Tricia, Allison, Jessica and Missy.
It all tasted so good!
Roger was snapping away some candid shots.
I love this annual event!
It's such a bonding with our girls thing!
Hope more and more can come each year.
Patty, thank you for starting it and
I hope it will continue every year in our family
for a long time!
It was so fun to be together. The Tea party is definitely a fun tradition.
