Cinco De Mayo and Jared's Home! Celebrations

This May will be full of joyous celebrations!
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo on quatro de Mayo with our Sunbrook rotating group at our home and had a fun evening. I made chicken enchiladas, tomatillo salsa & chips and Virgin margueritas. Others brought Mexican  and cilantro rice, guacamole, chipotle sauce, a yummy Mexican salad and tres de leches cake.

We left to go to Boise next morning, so I had to leave my pretty pink flowers behind. Rog took a quick pic of our home before we left.We drove to SLC and stayed overnight with Rick and Jodie to break up the long 10 hour drive and spend the evening with them. Jodie and Rick barbecued teriyaki rice bowl fixin's out on the grill - so delicious!

                                            Jared Is Home!

Our grandson, Jared, reported his Church mission to Scottsdale, Arizona North Mission on May 8 and we were sooo excited to give him big squeezes and hear about his experiences. What a wonderful young man he is - so dedicated to the Lord and secure in the knowledge of His great love for him and all of us!

On Saturday evening we watched a big but quick hail storm pass over. Jedd grilled shish kabobs and corn on the cob for us under the covered patio. It was such a yummy meal with a custard and strawberry tart for dessert.

Sunday morning, which was also Mothers' Day, Jared delivered an insightful and heartfelt talk about loving kindness and he included some sweet words about his wonderful mom.

Cousin Katie, who served a Church mission in NYC, flew in from SLC that morning before the meeting. These two have a special friendship. Lots of ward members thought she must be Jared's girlfriend!

At Jared's request, we had street tacos fixed like he ate many times with the members in Arizona. We also baked a coconut poke cake topped with fresh strawberries. Jared invited the missionaries serving in their ward in Boise to the dinner.

My sister, Joan, and husband, Tom, were invited and also their kids and grandkids in the area. My brother, John, and wife, Cindy, couldn't come.

Roger took some pics of Joan and I and I couldn't decide which one to include, so I included them all!

A big highlight of the day was Sam called on Zoom from his Church mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia. We all got to talk with him for about an hour. Love that cute boy!

We drove to Rick's home in Salt Lake on Monday and he took me/us to Ruth Chris Steak House for a Mothers' Day treat. The filet is out of this world!

When we got back from dinner, Abby had returned from taking Blake to his Special Needs softball game. He got two hits and we all cheered and clapped!

We enjoyed such great celebrations to kick off May and we have several more to come!

  1. Jared is the most handsome, amazing human being and was such a hard working, kind, helpful, loving missionary to his companions and all the people in his mission. He gave the best talk and I am so happy you and dad were able to attend. I am so grateful for Zoom that allowed me to be there from Arizona.
