A Trip to Mesa

Sydney's High School Swan Song, Stacy and Tom Celebrate 20 Years, and a Mexican Fiesta

Okay, so I can't resist!
With the following musical, it was "curtains"
on our granddaughter, Sydney's,
high school career on the stage.
She was the leading lady
in her high school production of -

It was a delightful production,
and what a joy to watch our oldest granddaughter
act, sing and dance on stage!
A couple of weeks before the play opened,
she auditioned, then got the news
that she is accepted as the only entering freshman
into BYU's Young Ambassadors!
So we hope to get to see her perform
many more times in the future!
Her darling best friend, Noelle, will be her roommate.

We are proud grandparents!

Ryan, Emily and Ben were cheering her on!

We all loved being there for Opening Night!

Stacy and Tom flew the next morning (Friday),
to Newport Beach to celebrate
their 20th Wedding Anniversary.
We tended the kids until their return Sunday night.

It is a busy household, with little and big Youngs
going every which way,
and we were just kinda the orchestra directors,
seeing to it that each one came in, went out
and got where they were supposed to go.
It was decided that, on Monday,  Grandpa would take
Max and Luke
to the air museum in Mesa to go through it again and
to pick out their upcoming birthday presents.
Ever since he took them there last Veterans Day,
they have wanted to go back with Grandpa Roger.

The boys talked Grandpa Roger into putting on his
old Braniff Airlines uniform
(which is one of the Young acquisitions
when we cleaned out our storage room).
Luke had to first run up to his room
and put on his military shirt and tie.

Stacy texted this pic of Luke's completed B-26,
after we were back home.

Max picked out two smaller planes, the F-4 and the P-40,
which Grandpa Roger helped him assemble before we left.
Luke's needed a special glue,
which they had to go get after we left,
so Tom was elected to help Luke put it together.
They were quite the projects,
but the boys are so proud of them!

Stacy took us to Flancer's for lunch on Monday with the twins.

Stacy had invited us to stay over until Tuesday morning
so we could meet their friends, who, their family
and Ryan's family, went to Mexico with
 over Spring Break.
They went with a humanitarian group
that builds houses for needy Mexicans
in a tiny Mexican village.
Stacy hosted a party/get-together Monday night
for all of the families
who had gone - almost 100 people!
Here are some pics they took
of their experience.
They all loved it!
Ryan and Emily and Tom and Stacy
were in two different groups,
and each group completed a house
from the foundation up.

The children cheered at the end of a long, hot and hard week.
They felt so good to have helped others.

Of course, Stacy had the Young home spic and span
for the party, so Roger went around
to each room, taking pics of their beautiful home.

This is the guest room,
or better known as Grandma and Grandpa's room
when we visit.

The old 50's TV is a bedside table.

Just out our door is this wonderful 50's Family Room.

The party begins with a Mexican Buffet -
everyone brought something and
I helped Stacy make chicken enchiladas.

One of the families put together a slide show of random pics
of all of the families building the two homes.
It is amazing that they completed two homes in one week!

As you can imagine, great bonding happened
with these wonderful families.

We traveled home Tuesday, were home just one day,
then Thursday morning, we were on the road again
for more family adventure!
Stay tuned!
