Fun With The Youngs
Stacy is one of our brave girls who takes off on road trips with her kids without her husband. Missy and Mindy have also been known to do that, as well as daughter-in-laws Emily and Jodie. I admire my strong girls!
The first part of July, Tom, Stacy and kids drove to Provo to be with Tom's family and to drop Sydney at Young Ambassador Camp at BYU. Tom had to return to work, so he flew home after a few days. The next week was EFY for Syd, so Stacy was returning the rest of the family home, a 4 hour trip the first day, and an over 7 hour trip, another day. We got to have them in St. George for a couple of days (July 17, 18) en route.
They arrived at our home just in time for shredded beef sliders and my homemade potato salad ( I thought Grandma Tobler's was closed on Mondays - as it turns out, it wasn't, but I haven't made potato salad for a while 'cause hers is so yummy!).
For her birthday every year, Stacy would ask for Key Lime Pie instead of birthday cake, so I made one for dessert. It is Joe's Stone Crab's recipe, and it is good. The homemade graham cracker crust and real Key lime juice is what makes it.
Because this post began with food pics, here are some of the other meals we had.
Caprece salad with Kay's summer tomatoes and garlic bruschetta. . .
. . . three berry trifle . . ..
. . . and baked rosemary chicken, Grandma's baked carrots and coconut rice.
Like all of our kids and grandkids, this is one
swimming family!
We had a great time just hangin' out together!
Twinner peace!
Jake and Roger played 18 holes of golf the first morning . . .
Cheerleading the golfers from our balcony
. . . then as it started to get dark that evening, all of the kids played on the green.
The twins got in some good putting practice.
The Youngs loaded up and hit the road after breakfast on the 19th.
We LOVED having you here . . .
Come again soon!
Lunch With Anne and Jay
Our dear Aggie friends, the Taylors, got thrown a little curve ball. Just days before they were to leave for the MTC in June to prepare for their mission in Texas, Jay found out he had prostate cancer. He's been having radiation treatments, the tests now look good, and the good news is that they will now
leave for the MTC August 6th.
On July 20th we met them for lunch at a new cafe in town, George's.
We had a great visit and so glad that we got to see them one more time before they left.
They will be awesome missionaries!
How fun to have some special time with Stacy and her cute kids! Stacy has lots of energy and great courage to make the trip! The food looks so delicious - Roger could easily be a food photographer (there is probably a special name for that - but I don't know it!) With the great meals, golf and swimming I'll bet the grandkids love to visit Grandma and Grandpa Stratford!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that things are working our for your friends to be able to serve their mission - maybe we will see them at the MTC!
So how was George's? We haven't tried it yet. It's called a food stylist, and yes, Roger could be one. All of the pictures are so good. I am so behind on reading blogs, and you've made lots of posts. On to read the rest!
