It took me forever to get our family trip to Canada in September posted, but we enjoyed a few other fun events that month, also.
BALLADIER PARTY
We drove up north a couple of days early before leaving from the Salt Lake airport on our family trip to Canada to stay with our son, Rick, in Salt Lake, so we could get in on a very special occasion. Mark Zaugg joined us other Balladier octogenarians and his family threw him a wonderful Pirate "Aye Matey!"(Get it? - I'm Eighty!) Party in their backyard in NSL. He really got into the spirit of the thing and spoke pirate jargon (really quite well) all evening!
Carol, Mark and me
A pirate band entertained us by playing and singing pirate songs.
Balladiers like nothing better than having an excuse to get together!
Kent, me, Carol, Kay and Don
Kay, Marilyn, me and Roger
Back - Kent and spouse, Linda, me, Pam B. and spouse, Dennis
Front - Carol, Marilyn and Kay
Below is a shot with all of the Balladier family who could be at this fun and clever party. We missed the Californians, Morris and Nate, Greer in Montana, Lewis in St. George and Doug, who couldn't be there.
This is probably the first time the guys didn't bring their guitars for us to sing Balladier songs. We're all getting a bit dulled by old age stuff, but our love for each other shines as bright as ever!
THE RYDER CUP
Rick invited Roger, his son, Josh, and son-in-law, Joe, to go with him to the Ryder Cup, which is a tournament held every two years between European and USA golfers. This year it was held in Farmingdale, New York. They left for New York two days after we returned to Salt Lake from the family Canadian trip, and I stayed with Jodie and Blake.
Here is the entrance to the Bethpage Black Golf Course, where the golfing took place.
From this vantage point, they were in the stands and could watch three holes at once.
They spotted President Trump when he came in and out one day to mingle with some of the pros, such as Scottie Scheffler, Rory Mcllroy, Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley, Jordan Spieth, John Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa and Justin Rose.
Next day, before flying home, they played the best public course on Long Island, Willow Creek Golf and Country Club. Roger said it was a beautiful, fun course to play, made even more fun because he played it with these great guys!
Two days after we returned to St. George, Roger and I drove to Mesa to be with Sarah while her parents were on a sailing trip to Croatia. Sarah is a junior, and what a sweet little doll she is! We enjoyed chatting with her, she is so cute with us, and we cooked her a favorite pasta meal. One-on-one time is THE BEST with grandkids!
We grabbed her when she was right out of the shower with wet hair to get a pic with her.
After all of that back-to-back action, Roger grabbed a few zzzs! Note his white feet where his suntanned legs meet where his socks usually are!
Roger's golf buddy, Derral, took this shot of Roger, one morning when he was playing with his Monday morning golf buddies. He loves golf and loves playing with these guys!
So, as you can see, I couldn't leave September without sharing, "The Rest of the Story!"
